Why did you choose dentistry as your profession? Why pediatric?

I have always enjoyed being able to serve people and found the workings of the human body to be amazing. Dentistry brings both of these things together. I enjoy working with kids because they are fun, smart, and full of hope and potential. Kids are AWESOME.

What is one thing you want parents to know about KidSmiles?

We care about your kids and want the best for them. We are determined to provide the best care possible and try to treat your kids as our own.

What is one thing you want kids to know about KidSmiles?

Coming to the dentist can be fun! We’re excited for you to come see us here and can’t wait to show you around!

Why is it important for your practice to educate your patients and their parents about good oral hygiene?

Oral hygiene obviously affects oral health, but it also affects overall physical, mental, and social health as well. All of these can be positively impacted by good oral hygiene.

Tell me a little about your family – what do you all like to do as a family?

My wife, Rachael, and I have three kids: two girls and a boy. We enjoy any and all water activities together, including going to the movies, bowling, and road trips.

 

 

Dr. Carl Pittman 

Why did you choose dentistry as your profession? Why pediatric?

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, taking things apart to see how they work, and fixing things. I also enjoyed science, so it seemed dentistry was a good combination of those two things. I worked at a pediatric dentist’s office during the summers while I was in dental school. By the last year of dental school, I realized I enjoyed working with kids—they keep us smiling and laughing.

What is one thing you want kids to know about KidSmiles?

Our toothpaste flavors are the best!

How do you hope to impact the community?

By creating an extended family of patients and parents, we can give back to this extended family to help those in need and by supporting local charities, schools, and businesses.

What makes KidSmiles stand out as a pediatric dentist?

We truly have some of the best pediatric dentists in the state of Texas, all under one roof, to provide our patients with honest and caring treatment options.

Tell me a little about your family – what do you all like to do as a family?

My kids are grown now, but we still love traveling together and meeting at our lake house to escape from reality for a few days.

What is one thing you want parents to know about KidSmiles?

Many places can clean your child’s teeth or straighten them, but at KidSmiles, we work to build a trusting relationship with them so that they will feel comfortable and secure.

What is one thing you want kids to know about KidSmiles?

Our office isn’t a place to be scared to go—we will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable. We want you to smile on your way in and out of the office.

How do you hope to impact the community?

Providing a comfortable and safe place for children to get dental care. We also plan to enact our “Pay it Forward” program that provides free orthodontics to kids who have a great need. The idea with that program is that we ask patients to do service in their community equal to the value of the orthodontics that we provide them. A former recipient of the program at our other office started an anti-bullying campaign, and another started a clothing drive at schools and churches.

What makes KidSmiles stand out as a pediatric dentist?

We are the only office that combines both a board-certified pediatric dentist and a board-certified orthodontist under the same roof. It makes for more efficient care for parents and helps kids relax when they feel comfortable in a certain office setting.

Tell me a little about your family – what do you all like to do as a family?

We love playing sports (golf and tennis) and card games (The Great Dalmuti, Skull King, Cover Your Kingdom).
